RECONSIDER Early Spay/Neutering of your new puppy!
Only Pet Stores and high volume breeders must comply with NYC law to spay/neuter dogs before they are sold. Research shows there are negative health consequences for early spay neuter of puppies. You may wish to speak with your vet first.  The AKC has a position paper on the subject. There are many resources on the web to find out more about this issue.

The Delaware Valley Havanese Club Breeder Referral Page has a number of litter announcements.  Many of the breeders listed show their dogs. Ask about health testing. Don’t be shy! Do your due diligence!
In the days before The Westminister Kennel Club Show individual breeds have shows all around Manhattan including two, Friday and Saturday, for Havanese that are sponsored by Greater New York Havanese Club. We would expect that most of the top Havanese in the Nation will participate.
What makes this show unique is that only Toy Breeds are entered. It’s in the Ballroom and you can get up close to watch the judging. Friends interested in Havanese or other toy breeds might enjoy these shows. We’ll announce the ring time 1 week prior in case you want to attend.

Friday, January 30, 2026 - The GNYHC Supported Entry (the Club provides the ribbons for the Havanese winners) at the Progressive Toy Dog Club Show at the Hotel New Yorker. What makes this show unique is that only Toy Breeds are judged.

Saturday, January 31, 2026 - The GNYHC’s annual Designated Havanese Specialty (The Club provides prizes and ribbons to the Havanese winners) at the Progressive Toy Dog Club Show at the Hotel New Yorker. This, too, is a Toy Dog Show exclusively. Holding a Specialty once a year is our responsibility as an AKC Licensed, Independent Havanese Club recognized by the HCA.
Write to us a week before the show to ask what time Havanese will be shown.
